Nathan, how is it possible that you are already two? I can't believe you have been in our lives for only 2 short years, but what a difference you have made in our family! We just would not be complete without you! Your funny facial expressions, toddler sense of humor, loud roar, and sweet hugs and kisses just make live so much better!
Your Nan bought you this yummy cake!
You, however, wanted nothing to do with the festive singing of the Happy Birthday song. You covered your eyes and yelled "No!" the whole time!
Finally, we stopped singing and you could get excited! You love to blow out candles and you love to eat sweets! Score!
Then we had to take your picture with your family, starting with your lovely mama. You were too busy eating cake to pose for the camera.
I wanted to get your picture with your brother but you would not have it. You apparently thought he was trying to steal your cake and ice cream.
You calmed down enough to take your picture with him, though you kept eyeing him warily. Just in case he was going to steal a bite or two.
The family photo! This was the best that we could do. Life with a two year old! We had forgotten how unpredictable it is!
Then it was on to the presents! Nan and Pop got you this new kid recliner, and you promptly climbed in and leaned back. You looked just like your Pop chilling in that recliner!
You got some more cars for your race track. Fun!
And your favorite of all! A baby "Neigh" and "Broom"! Known to English speaking folks as a horse and elephant.
Sweet boy, two years ago we were driving through the dark and the rain to Kansas City to meet you for the first time. The minute we laid eyes on you we were smitten. We just knew that you were our son. It was torture not being able to hold you that first night, and it almost killed us to give you back once we held you. We knew that our lives would not be complete without you in them. We are so thankful for your birthparents and for them choosing us to be your family. God knew we needed your sunny and hilarious personality in our household. You are so sweet and cute that even when you are naughty I don't hold a grudge for too long. You are a precious gift from God and I am forever grateful to be your mama!
